Here at Atlas Overhead Doors, the first thing you’ll learn about us is that we never attack or insult our competition. Instead, as you’d expect from professionals, we focus on our strengths, and help our customers make objective and informed opinions.

After all, when you sell something as significant as garage door systems, you aren’t just selling products and services – you’re building relationships, and as we all know, relationships are built on trust.

However, with this being said, over the years various customers have brought to our attention that some garage door companies in the GTA are apparently acting in an unprofessional, unreliable and/or unethical manner. This is unfortunate, but like most marketplaces, there are always going to be companies that refuse to do things the right way.

And so, to help you guard against giving your hard earned money to a garage door company that is not worthy of your trust, here are a few signs and symptoms to keep in mind:

• They’re more interested in selling you something than answering your questions.

A professional garage door company will never try and aggressively sell you anything. Rather, they will give you information and advice, and invite you to make a choice when it suits you; not them. Plus, they’ll gladly and thoroughly answer all of your questions.

• They won’t clearly and confidently stand behind their work.

A garage door system is a major home appliance, like your washing machine, dishwasher, dryer, HVAC, and so on. And the worst time to discover that your garage door company fails to stand behind their work is when something goes wrong – because that’s when you need them the most! Ask for testimonials, make sure all guarantees are in writing, and find out how quickly they’ll be there to fix the problem. Same day or next day service is OK – next week or even longer is totally unacceptable!

• They generalize in selling garage door systems rather than specialize.

Chances are, you may not think much about garage door systems, and so you may naturally assume that they’re pretty much all the same – which means that virtually anyone can sell them, such as department stores, consultants, and websites that don’t even have a business address. However, the opposite is the case: garage door systems are highly specialized, and that’s why it’s absolutely in your best interest to work with a company that knows them inside and out.
Put it this way: would you buy sophisticated legal services from a department store? Or seek an essential medical diagnosis from a doctor who doesn’t even conduct an examination? Or take have your complex car engine repaired by someone who’s “learning on the job” and has never seen anything like your car before? Obviously you wouldn’t do any of these. In the same light, when it comes to your garage door system, you owe it to yourself to work with specialized experts. You won’t pay a penny more – in fact you’ll almost certainly save money – plus you’ll get peace of mind, which is invaluable.
